Microsoft Planner
What Is Microsoft Planner?
Microsoft Planner is a new app from Microsoft that helps teams organize their work. Planner gives teams a simple visual view of what everyone's working on, whether it's updating key milestones on a project timeline or sharing files with your distributed team. Planner integrates with Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook and SharePoint, so it's easy for people to stay connected. And since the app syncs between desktop, web and mobile, organizers can keep their plans up to date from wherever they are.
Microsoft Planner helps get project plans started and moved into the cloud. Teams can see updates, upload files, send messages, and start conversations from Outlook or Planner on any device. Organize projects in a simple visual agenda that shows who's working on what, when updates are due, and what needs to happen next with one click to join a conversation about a task or project.

Reviews of Microsoft Planner
Alternatives Considered:
All-inclusive approach to planning
Comments: The reliability of Microsoft Planner is exceptional
Pros:
Microsoft Planner helps with consolidating necessary functions and tasks when it comes project management and development. Collaborating is more effective through Microsoft Planner.
Cons:
There is nothing negative to say from my experience using Microsoft Planner but there are more cost-effective alternatives
Microsoft Planner: Surprisingly Effective
Pros:
I was reluctant to switch from Asana, which I considered the gold standard as a project management platform. However, Planner constantly impresses me by having functionalities I would not have expected it to have, or that I only expected Asana and other dedicated programs to have (rather than one aspect of the Microsoft Suite).
Cons:
Microsoft Planner has all the key functionalities it needs, and more than I would have expected; but, it falls short on user experience. I used to want to plan everything in Asana because it was a little gamified. I am happy to use the Planner when it makes sense to, but I don't go out of my way to.
Some basic tool which is ok for the individuals, but a nightmare for the managers.
Comments: Overall it is a suboptimal experience. The planner is perfectly fine for executing and prioritizing tasks, but when it comes to tasks that must be fulfilled by multiple people on different projects then it is true headache for any manager. The best way to overcome it is working on a single kanban style board, but it also has some sort of limitations.
Pros:
It is simple and reliable. Scheduling is easy, prioritization is easy since one can use colour labels and customize it in any way. If the Planner is used as a kanban board by one team for one project then it is fine.
Cons:
Progress tracking and visualization are just unacceptable. It is not possible to see who is working on what task under which project. One needs to go and click through multiple teams and keep all the information in mind.

Pros:
Best Microsoft tool for Managing project , great to create boards and create , assign task to users. Has great integration with outlook . Included in the office 365 suite , doesn't require additional licenses.
Cons:
Has limited features when compared to Trello or click up.
By Far the Simplest and Most Effective Task Management Tool
Comments: Overall, I highly recommend Microsoft Planner to anyone looking for a simple and effective task management tool. It is a great option for teams of all sizes, and it is especially well-suited for teams that are already using other Microsoft 365 products
Pros:
It is easy to use and has almost no distractions which helps me focus betterIt is well-integrated with other Microsoft 365 productsIt has a variety of features that make it easy to collaborate with others like assigning people tasks and tracks progressIt is affordable, I even bought it for personal use
Cons:
It is not marketed enough which makes a struggle to get other collaborators in
Alternatives Considered:
Microsoft Planner! Start Here! Planning is essential in today's business & personal success!
Comments: It is a great business & personal tool. There some amazing things that can help keep you on track.
Pros:
Ease of use, all in one place, sharing and collaborating capabilities, online,
Cons:
I have another planner that I integrate with this one and I love it a little bit more.
Microsoft Planner
Pros:
It is easy to use and create tasks. the tracking is simple, and the tagging makes it easy identifiable. A lot of interaction with the team members and tole players makes it easy to track and understand certain processes.
Cons:
It takes time to setup but it is not a bad thing all the time. Although is takes time in the beginning the ease of mind after is great.
A better board than Trello? Still missing one thing.
Comments: We've been using Planner for several years to manage publishing projects and event tasks.
Pros:
The obvious argument for Planner is its integration with the Office/365 suite. Planner comes with our 365 subscription and is available to all our team members. The integration with Microsoft Teams is very good, and, importantly, Planner tasks show up in Microsoft To-Do. So it plays nicely with this environment.Aside from integrations, Planner provides a really nice board experience and a competent list view.
Cons:
Planner is less actively developed than similar products from other companies. It's greatest weakness, in my opinion: there is no way to see all the tasks assigned to another person. Nor is it possible to search through all plans to find a task. (I can, however, see all tasks assigned to me in a unified view.)The effect of this is to silo each plan. If I need to find a task, but am not sure in which plan it exists, I'm reduced to looking through multiple plans or purchasing Apps4Pro's Planner Manager add-on.
Microsoft planner for planning projects
Comments: we have project planning in it, in the future they should even connect with other projects
Pros:
very clear, showing what has already been done, who is working on which task and how it is related to each other
Cons:
only limited number of timelines for the total display
The sweet spot between accessibility and complete features
Comments: I have been pushing everyone to use it for Project Planning. Getting others to use it has not been painful, which is saying quite a lot.
Pros:
I love how quickly I can get other team member using all the features they need with Planner. It holds a lot of information and is much better than a static "To Do" list, but not as complex as most Project Planner software out there.
Cons:
Little things like selecting a card and adding another person are not quite as effortless as they could be. Adding the option to "repeat" tasks is a game-changer as now I can make a detailed Planner for an annual event and not have to clone it.
Useful easy to use tool for all project planning
Comments: an easy to use task planner that shows status, provides notifications and keeps a lot of balls in the air at once.
Pros:
ease of set up and ability to "see" the tasks in multiple views
Cons:
some steps are more manual than I would like
MS Planner for Task Management
Comments: Most MS products are simple and practical thanks to the user interface. Thanks to its integration with other MS products, it can provide fast and easy solutions. It has a simple and easy distribution platform. Fast and easy integration into the system is also preferred.
Pros:
It is a business management software offered under MS Office 365. As with all MS products, this software was very easy to deploy and manage cloud-based. Like every MS product, this product is very functional as it integrates with other MS products and can work together. Managing existing teams is at a simple, practical and easy-to-manage level for business planning and task distribution. It has a user-friendly interface thanks to its task assignment, support for different languages, and simple interface.
Cons:
For those who have not used the Office 365 Platform before, it may seem difficult to use. However, you can quickly adapt to the system after experiencing it for a few days.
Its's about keeping tasks in order
Comments: Overall Is is a compatible software for normal scale projects for creation of documents in a professional manner.
Pros:
I like the way it allows me to select a template for my document creations and customize it the way I want. Also there are lots of templates to choose. Graphical representation is very much user friendly. Integration of data from another apps is also an additional advantage.
Cons:
It is difficult to open document in other software which does not support MS Publisher. Export options are quite less.
Game Changer for Events
Comments: This has been a game changer for me! I use this for our annual membership meeting that, for us, is a rather large event to coordinate. It helps me to make sure that everyone involved knows what they need to be doing and I can monitor the progress. As a day to day thing, I use this for my own tasks to be completed.
Pros:
I can see everything that needs to be done in one spot
Cons:
The setup of a new project can take some time.
Microsoft Planner - Greatest Dashboard Tool
Pros:
The best feature is its synchronization with other Office365 products. It syncs seamlessly and smoothly with all other O365 products available, and it is very handy.
Cons:
It is better that if the alerts can be configured periodically, especially when a task has a deadline.
Microsoft Planner: To Plan or Not to Plan
Comments: Overall is say this is a must have when an office or a business has tasks and projects that their employees engage in. With the ability to manage the program with ease and the ability to track the productivity of the employees with said tasks and projects helps out as well.Don't hesitate to get this and try it out, I am sure you will keep using it as we have!
Pros:
Hands down amazing. Very simple and easy to integrate with your systems. Easy to set up and use and pretty straight-forward options and controls. The amount of control you have when making tasks and assigning them is absolutely amazing. Being able to track so much and see when stuff has been missed and not completed.
Cons:
This is really more so when using MS Planner on your company mobile device. Sometimes it gets confusing when you have many tasks and group tasks. They get shown differently on the mobile device and this leads to some tasks being missed completely and ignored. As long as you take your time though and check all the folders and swipe to check the tabs for other tasks you should be fine. The desktop version definitely lays it out way better!
Microsoft planner keeps me on task
Comments: I use planner to collaborate with my partners so that we are all aware of what we need to do in order to male the project successful.
Pros:
It's helpful that planner Llows for you to prioritize task and provides reminders.
Cons:
I think that planner can be a bit difficult to learn initially.
Solid Project Management Software
Pros:
Microsoft Planner is a great solution if you don't need a ton of advance features. It really does a good job as a basic project management solution to keep action items and due dates in check.
Cons:
I can see the software being limiting if you need more advanced features or have a more complicated project, but it suits my needs just fine.
GREAT TRIAL
Pros:
I appreciated how simple and easy the product is, when it comes to first time users.
Cons:
I would have appreciated a longer trial run.
Good tool for keeping tasks on track!
Pros:
For planning and proiritinsg personal workloads, I would recommend this tool.
Cons:
There are lots of competitive products and options now available. I started using planner but found it hard to keep it up.
plan smarter
Comments: My overall experience was great. Would definitely keep using this for task making
Pros:
Easy to setup and easy for tasks to execute within the business
Cons:
Nothing i liked least about it. All was great.
Love it for the Teams integration
Comments: We use Microsoft Office to track smaller projects, typically accessing it through Teams. It's been amazing for collaborative projects that are not overly complex.
Pros:
My company is a Microsoft Office and I love how Planner is built into Teams and works great within a Microsoft environment. I like that multiple people can be assigned to a single task and that filtering options exist and that it can integrate with Power Apps.
Cons:
I feel like there are some areas for improvement such as a more view options to make it more viable as a kanban tool.
Alternatives Considered:
The best task management collaboration tool
Comments: The toll is fantastic and can be use in all areas, my team is using it and the participation in broad since the integration with teams is perfect
Pros:
Easy to setup, perfect integration with Microsoft tools works perfectly combined with forms and power automate.
Cons:
Integration with power bi is not that simple, I would like a power automate action that refresh an entire table instead of adding columns and updating completed task
Nothing special, but it does its job
Comments: We've started using it because it's part of our company Microsoft Suite.Due to its limits, we've switched then to more advanced collaboration tools.
Pros:
One good feature, if you use Microsoft Outlook, is the fact that it's integrated with Microsoft Outlook and therefore is allows you to synchronize the tasks and the different action points.
Cons:
It's quite limited in terms of features and functionalities. It's good enough, as collaboration tool to be used to assign different tasks to the team members.
Efficiency and Organization: A Student's Take on Microsoft Planner
Comments: Overall, as a student, my experience with Microsoft Planner was very positive. The platform provided me with a simple and effective way to manage my tasks and collaborate with my team, which helped me stay organized and on top of my work. Despite a few limitations, I found Microsoft Planner to be a valuable tool that made it easier for me to succeed in my studies.
Pros:
I liked how Microsoft Planner made it easy for me to stay organized and on top of my tasks. The platform's user-friendly interface and intuitive design made it simple for me to create and manage tasks, set deadlines, and track progress. I also appreciated the ability to collaborate with my team on tasks and projects, which made it easy for us to stay on the same page and ensure that nothing fell through the cracks.
Cons:
The only thing I didn't like about Microsoft Planner was that some of its features and capabilities could be a bit limited. For example, I would have liked to be able to include more detailed information about each task, such as subtasks and notes. Additionally, I found that some of the mobile app's features were not as robust as the desktop version, which made it a bit harder to manage tasks on-the-go.
