A Great Choice for Enterprise Linux Deployments
Comments: Overall, my experience with Oracle Linux has been positive. I have found it to be a fairly stable and reliable platform, which has made it a good choice for use in production environments. The platform has a wide range of features and options that make it customizable to meet the needs of different organizations, and it is generally well-documented. I have also found the Oracle support team to be responsive and helpful when I have needed assistance.
Pros:
There are many things that I like about Oracle Linux, but some of my favorite features include the easy-to-use interface, the wide range of applications and tools that are available, and the fact that it is very stable and reliable. - It is supported by Oracle Corporation and offers a high level of security, stability, and performance.- Oracle Linux is easy to install and maintain, and it comes with a wide range of applications that can be used for various purposes.- It is highly customizable and can be easily adapted to meet the specific needs of a business or organization.- Oracle Linux provides a stable and reliable platform for running mission-critical applications.
Cons:
There wasn't anything that I particularly disliked about Oracle Linux. I found it to be a very reliable and stable operating system.
Oracle Linux: A Linux System that is not Very User-Friendly
Comments: Good experience when using Oracle Linux for Server testing however the execution on top of virtualization software was not very appealing.
Pros:
We used Oracle Linux to test with the preconfigured Oracle VMs using VirtualBox the Oracle's desktop virtualization software. It is nice to have Oracle software (mainly Oracle Database and SQL Developer) preinstalled and configured in the VMs. I usually do some updates on the VMs and share it with my students to have all the software ready for the course. I used Oracle Linux for running database servers (Oracle and MySQL) and Web Servers (Apache Tomcat). The performance was very good and the concurrency support was highly acceptable on commodity hardware.
Cons:
Many issues when running the Oracle Linux VMs on top of Virtual Box made the experience a bit disappointing. The desktop system wasn't stable and changed resolutions frequently. It took us a lot of research to resolve it partially but it was hard to communicate those resolutions to students in a short period of time in a semester or so.
Oracle Linux: An Oracle Linux Distribution with a Lot of Issues on Virtualization Platforms
Comments: Well-developed Linux distribution. A lot of issues on virtualization software.
Pros:
I enjoyed the pre-deployed Oracle database and drivers provided by Oracle on top of a free Virtual Machine that can run on their virtualization platform (VirtualBox). This simplifies a lot the intricate Oracle database configuration and makes the preconfigured VM a very suitable choice for beginners and students. The Linux kernel is very well-developed and supports the standard shell platforms (zsh, csh, bash, ksh, etc). I use Oracle Linux for deploying the servers at the business logic layer (Apache Tomcat) and at the data persistence layer (Oracle Database 12c). The container virtualization is very efficient and I always use it for testing client/server security protocols.
Cons:
The operation of Oracle Linux on Virtual Box is so slow and suffers from many GUI glitches such as resolution changes between runs and frequent crashes. I believe this is an issue in Virtual Box though.
Best OS
Comments: My overall experience with Oracle Linux is good and its best used for cloud computing services and Iaas.
Pros:
The best feature of orcale linux is the technical or client support which is very appreciable. The installation process is very simple here and its can be specifically customized according to the organizations requirements. The user-interface is very friendly.
Cons:
I cant find dislikes about Oracle linux because its a better operating system than the others.
Best and most recommended Software for Virtualization, Cloud computing and Security
Comments: Using Oracle Linux has brightened alot of things especially in the aspects of virtualization and security in my systems..U highly recommend this software to any user for any of the above Characteristics
Pros:
The security and stability level in Oracle Linux is do much outstanding in that you can trust your systems to run on it with no worries..I just do love Oracle Linux for it's nature of compatibility too..
Cons:
I haven't found negative instances in Oracle so far...
Red Hat Linux pre-customized to run Oracle
Comments: We use Oracle Linux when it is part of a vendor's specification for their application, so we don't use it as much as regular Red Hat Linux, although it works pretty much exactly the same for management, updates, etc.
Pros:
It is free to use and download (you must pay for support, of course). It is basically Red Hat enterprise Linux, and updates are available as soon as regular Red Hat updates are released. Support costs less than Red Hat. It comes somewhat pre-configured to run Oracle (e.g. users/groups, kernel settings, etc), so it's good to have for an Oracle database server. One neat little thing I particularly like is that it comes pre-configured for updates, so you don't have to guess and tweak your yum settings.
Cons:
I honestly cannot think of anything bad to say about it. Sure, it's more complicated than Windows, but you know that getting into it, and the stability, performance, and efficiency you get in return more than makes up for it.
Ideal secure linux distribution
Comments: Excellent Linux distribution that is capable in Cloud support, virtualization, and container management
Pros:
The feature of this program that I enjoy particularly is that it includes functional and practical packages and assistance for developers to assist them in setting up the perfect development platform. Its ability to interface with other Red Hat services and Linux distributions is another feature.
Cons:
Since it is a Linux system, we shouldn't hope the ui to be as good as Mac OS or perhaps even Windows, but it is undoubtedly rather limited. However, the ui, particularly for beginners, is adequate enough for basic daily chores. Although I generally use the shell and shell scripts to handle apps instead of the GUI, I would argue that the GUI makes it much simpler to handle program adding and deletion, exactly like in Windows.
a distribution with high capacities, performance and oriented to developers
Comments: I started using this distribution due to the need to have and be able to create an ideal development environment and with this distribution I was able to do it, integrate it with my IDE, database, web servers and others, it has been of great benefit and a unique experience and above all everything is an easy distribution to configure and manage
Pros:
What I like the most about this tool is that as a developer it has good tool packages and support to be able to set up an ideal development environment. Also that it is a distribution that can be integrated with other red hat services and other linux distributions
Cons:
So far it is my ideal distribution to develop
Free O.S.
Comments: Overall it is a very good O S
Pros:
It's free, has excellent memory management, and is very safe to use.
Cons:
It does not have a friendly interface with the average user, however it is something that you get used to using, there are also programs that are not compatible with Linux.
Oracle Linux works great for running Oracle databases and other compatible Oracle products
Comments: It's an excellent OS for running Oracle products, those familiar with CentOS or RHEL will be right at home.
Pros:
It is basically CentOS and now that CentOS is going to be discontinued by RedHat it seems like a viable alternative. We use it to run Oracle databases and related products at the moment, but in the coming months it may start to be used as a replacement for CentOS in other areas of our infrastructure.
Cons:
If you want to use Oracle Linux as an alternative to CentOS, you have to take in to consideration that the default kernel is optimised for Oracle databases. It does come with a RedHat compatible kernel as well, so you may need to switch to that based on your intended usage.
We use it because we have too.
Pros:
It works well with oracle related software products
Cons:
I have an old version, the reason why I have an old version, is my legacy system which uses oracle database uses it. I cannot upgrade Oracle Linux without breaking functionality of our database and losing support by our software vendor.
Consigliato.
Pros:
Aggiornamenti e download completamente gratuito.
