choose better software
About Yardi Voyager
Browser-based property and asset management software providing integrated, comprehensive management and accounting.
Great UI that makes it easy to navigate through. Integrates with many companies that will assist with bill pay, utility, concierge etc.
I constantly get data retrieval errors, it loses hours I've entered and sorting through work order lists is clumsy and time consuming.

Yardi Voyager for a Commercial Real-Estate Company
Comments: Voyager is a great tool and we would choose it again!
Pros:
Once set up, Yardi does a great job automating the management of our properties. We have also been able to use automated receipts and payments to allow us to process transactions wherever we are. Yardi has been built around real estate and that is evident! Customer service has also been excellent. Support reps are dedicated to helping resolve issues and follow up is great.
Cons:
Set up is a bit complex and choppy. Support is available and helpful, but there is not a lot of written documentation to rely on. The structure of the system and how it works is not very intuitive and you need help to get most things done. We are a Mac shop and have had significant difficulties getting set up. However, we got there and are doing great!
Yardi Makes Residential Property Management a Breeze
Comments: I enjoy how Yardi has been designed and how easily it can be navigated. It is very user friendly.
Pros:
I enjoy different ways to pull up information so that I can easily tailor it to my needs.
Cons:
It can be slow to pull up information during major accounting deadlines. IE rent day, or around the end of the month when the rent is being posted. We have also had problems having our third party tenant portal integrate with Yardi with it comes to Tenant Promotion function. I do have a ticket in and they are researching the problem. Tech support is quite good at times, but I find that they do not look at the documents that were uploaded on help tickets and we waste time going back and forth when all the information was provided at the beginning.
What year is it??
Comments: Frustrating and confusing.
Pros:
Does it do what you need it to do? Yes. I suppose. At some point.
Cons:
This software is the most out-of-date, convoluted, redundant, and time-consuming tool I have ever been tasked with using. Very little about this interface is streamlined and simple tasks that should take 1 click, takes 10. Those clicks = TIME. Glitches regularly without warning and I often lose what I'm working on, having to start over. The overall look of Yardi looks like it was packaged in with the first roll-out of Windows 97. There are FAR better property management software systems out there (looking at you, Entrata) and anyone who says things like "I didn't have a problem" are people who likely haven't used any other program seeing how far-reaching Yardi is in the industry.
Helps complete task in an organized, timely manner!
Comments: Very easy to navigate, beginner friendly and easy to collaborate with others
Pros:
It alerts you to any tasks due, keeps you on tract
Cons:
Charges and payments can task can take over night to sync with other programs
Yardi Voyager Software Useful for Property Managers
Comments: Overall I like Yardi Voyager. It is a tool useful on a daily basis to track my building's financials as well as AR and AP.
Pros:
I like the nearly unlimited ability to customize Yardi to a company's needs. Detailed information available and ability to compile financial reports are invaluable.
Cons:
It can be very complex to use, requiring very detailed manuals. I don't find it very intuitive, but this may be due to the complexity of information it can provide.
Alternatives Considered:
Industry Standard PM Software that declined over time
Comments: We ceased using Yardi after many years, primarily due to the outrageous costs and at the end horrible customer support. They "a-la-carte" every module and the functions within each module can be limited unless you license everything. The main reason was we could not get customer/technical support. Support emails would go unanswered, phone numbers disconnected or unanswered. Their management team would get involved and still nothing would be responded to or helped.
Pros:
User interface was easy to understand and use. You could create your own customized reports.
Cons:
That is a long list. Rent Cafe (tenant portal) never worked right for our tenants. You could never get two different reports to give you the same answer. Not nearly enough automation options for day to day functions. The primary con was little to no customer/technical support. Even the numbers on their "Support" site were either disconnected or unanswered.
It Does Everything
Comments: It is not perfect and most often they do try to be quick with responding to issues. The people have been great to work with.
Pros:
It is such a large package that it has everything you need to manage rental properties. Having a Canadian module is a great help too.
Cons:
High cost of base licensing. Add-ons are very reasonable priced though. Unit based pricing does help .
Manager Review
Pros:
Easy to use and everything loads fast most of the time
Cons:
sometimes the reports load blank and there are too many steps
User Friendly
Comments: Once you use it you start to get used to trying to find reports you need.
Pros:
Once you learn how to use it it like any other management program.
Cons:
It's hard to figure out how to pull reports, someone has to teach you.
Yardi Voyager review
Pros:
huge database of the owners name, address and emails
Cons:
Couldn't have access or upload to PDF format of the invoices for future checking and audit
Great software
Pros:
I love the reporting. It pulls everything so easily.
Cons:
Not being able to send text messages from the software
Excellent product, but can be difficult to navigate initially
Pros:
The ease of pulling reports with the actually information I need. Detailed!
Cons:
It was excruciating to learn in the very beginning, but once you get it it’s magical.
Yardi for financial reporting
Comments: I am very happy with Yardi Voyager. I can find what I need relatively easily. The chart of accounts is easy to create and the custom reporting is helpful in disseminating information to particular users.
Pros:
My favourite feature of Yardi is the ability to drill down to the original transaction to see how it was coded and the associated PO and invoice, if applicable. The amount of detail that can be found with relative ease is very helpful in creating financial reports.
Cons:
The inventory management module is lacking and can be drastically improved. We have made it work for what we need, but I'd like to see some improvements in the module.
Yard Voyager: A Must See Product
Comments: If you're shopping for property management software, then, even if you're a small firm now, Yardi should be on your consideration list. You are planning to grow, right? It will be a selling point if you prospective clients that you use Yardi.
Pros:
During my 35 years in commercial and multi-family residential real estate, I have literally watched the real estate management software industry grow up. I have used most of the best property management software companies' products at one time or another. Yardi has been an industry front runner virtually since its release. If you run a large management company with institutional clients, then chances are you already know all about Yardi, because many institutional owners require that their managers use Yardi. If you aspire to manage institutionally-owned ("investment grade") properties one day, then you should take a hard look at Yardi. It is highly competitive cost and feature-wise with its very best competitors. Call Yardi and ask for a demo. At the very least, you will get a taste of what top-of-the-line property management software looks like. I have recommended Yardi software to my property management clients on many occasions. In all fairness, one size does not fit all in the property management industry, and I have recommended one of Yardi's competitors instead more than once.
Cons:
What I like least about Yardi also applies to its best competitors. That is, there is a lot of front-end setup required to use its most valuable features. And there is a steep learning curve to be overcome in its use. Intense training of your controller/accountant(s) may be required, and additional training of property managers. As a general rule, you should expect Yardi's implementation cost to equal or surpass its purchase cost. This goes double if you plan to host Yardi on a proprietary server at your company. Again, my comments here apply to Yardi's best competitors as well. The best property management software is powerful, feature rich, highly customizable, and, when properly implemented, speaks well of your company's professionalism in many respects.
Lots of Glitches
Pros:
You can generally figure out how to do the basic functions with little to no training. In theory, it has a lot of useful information for property management.
Cons:
Every single time there is an update, data is messed up & takes forever to get it fixed by Yardi. It times out fairly fast & you lose the data you were working on. There seem to be a lot of glitches & it's not always cleat how information is gathered & calculated.

A solid, functional tool
Pros:
I appreciate the ease in which you can run reports through Yardi and how quickly and dependably the software uploads invoices. It has pretty reliable support features and allows me to do lease administration easily.
Cons:
What I like least about this software is that there isn't a quick way to compare invoices as you are coding unlike other programs that I've used. This can make it challenging to easily open other invoices and see missing recurring payments and ways that similar invoices are coded. It also is frustrating how the pathways and names to different functionalities within the program are different for different users. This can make collaboration confusing when it isn't universally the same for all users.
It's been an industry leader for so long for good reason
Comments: It's our holistic ERP. Thus far it's an industry standard for a reason.
Pros:
Accounting and ledger capabilities are fantastic.
Cons:
Seems they still run into bugs with features that have been around for ages. User menu's aren't very intuitive. A lot of the support will provide steps to fix a problem without really understanding what the function does or why it has to be done - troublesome when you get into fixes that require several screens and complex process.
Yardi Voyager
Comments: The onboarding was awful. I wanted to cancel the conrqctnhalfway through and we were actually upgrading from an old Yardi platform, not another software. Once getting through that though it is a truly phenomenal product.
Pros:
Capabilities are almost limitless. So many options and modules available. It’s expensive but can automate enough workload that administrative staffing can. It really is amazing what it can do.
Cons:
The onboarding was brutal. Yardi has no subject matter experts on their teams that actually care understand property management and maintenance and that makes it very difficult to speak the same language. Some of their trainers are great and some are awful. The trainers are not Yardi employees they are independent contractors.
Yard is very helpful, and typically easy to use and navigate.
Pros:
I use yardi everyday for resident records, and I like the amount of information that can be easily imported and edited and the memo finction is very useful.
Cons:
Yardi can be a slow, especially while running reports. It is not always user friendly when Simone is waiting for you to pull up information. Seems to loose saved information, I also wish it would help prevent duplicate entries for prospects by pulling from a variety of fields.
You don't know what you don't know - until you know.
Comments: Our company has used Yardi Voyager for 5+ years. For a short time, we did venture out to try another product, but it wasn't even a year before we were back to Yardi. All the systems talk and coordinate with billing and it just makes sense to have all products together vs using many different programs for the same goal.
Pros:
While the systems are complex, with a little training, you will soon see how straightforward they are. The training program (Aspire) is my current favorite, followed by Senior IQ which is a complete dashboard of clinical, sales, and/or financial key indicators.
Cons:
The back-end data is often hard to access because there are so many tables, but Yardi is consistently making improvements to get that data available (such as their product Senior IQ).
Yardi, the property management lifesaver
Comments: Overall, Yardi makes my life easier at work because I have access to all of my tenants profiles and whenever I need something, I get the information quickly and in an organized manner.
Pros:
It organizes entire portfolios and sensitive information from clients on a safe, user-friendly platform.
Cons:
There is a lot of loading time and buffering, some times takes long for things to open up when clicking them.
Easy to Use...Daily Lifesaver
Comments: I have been using this system for many years and have little to no complaints. I would definitely recommend.
Pros:
This product helps to make sure that my office is handling leasing and financials properly on our property.
Cons:
The system times out quickly which causes multiple logins during the day
The bar for cloud-based Commercial Property accounting software
Comments: Overall Yardi Voyager is a great product, super robust with tons of features. It's an all-in-one total accounting software. You can do full charge bookkeeping with it, all with the features you'd expect from a property management software. I have been using Yardi Voyager for 5 years and have found it quite easy to use and learn, although I'm constantly finding out new things about it. For a small company or landlord, this is not the product for you, but for larger or institutional type real estate companies, this is basically the gold standard.
Pros:
- Robust functionality - Cloud based - Great technical support - User-friendly - Constant updates - Drill-down capabilities
Cons:
- Not accessible when offline - Redundant menu options - Custom reporting can have hangups - Exporting certain reports can be troublesome
Slow, Clunky, Unnecessarily Convoluted, Unduly Report Focused
Comments: We literally only upgraded because there's no support for VH anymore. Yardi was chosen largely due to its backward compatibility with VH. The training, conversion and implementation have been messy to say the least. Yardi's promises have repeatedly proven to be meaningless, from the salespeople's promises of features to the implementation team's promises of support during our transition. The process of switching has been one of seemingly endless frustration.
Pros:
As Yardi will happily enthuse about, the myriad of possible reports and other means of analyzing and displaying data are genuinely impressive.
Cons:
Web-based means we're SOL if there's an internet problem. Also it's just slower than our in-house DB was. There are extra unnecessary steps to do almost everything. While there are a million ways to look at data, actually working with it is obtuse and convoluted. There are literally vestigial functions all over the software that LOOK like what one should use for a given function but either don't work or will mess things up.
Yardi Voyager Real Estate Software
Pros:
Yardi Voyager is very customizable and robust in it's core financial platform. This software combines operational software (property management) with accounting back end software for AR, AP, GL, and core Financial reporting in one tool. There are also tons of add-on modules for many industries allowing for a single stack system (Investment Management, Construction, Facilities Management, Legal process tracking, insurance tracking...)
Cons:
The learning curve for administering the system is more than some comparable systems, you will most likely need a consultant to support and train you. Custom reports will require a developer.
