system with useful functionalities
Comments: a better standardization of maintenance can be carried out, saving costs and extending the useful life of the files
Pros:
- I really liked the support team as they kindly answer all the questions one by one in such a well-explained way that they leave no doubt- Its work order function makes it easy to keep track of the work that is or is not being done- in general its use is easy to perform- I can coordinate my maintenance schedule in a more strategic way
Cons:
No, I don't have anything to write that I don't like about this platform called ShireSystem

Comments: Overall I would say that ShireSystem is very scalable, and comes at a price to suit most pockets
Pros:
I rely very much on ShireSystem to Coordinate my maintenance scheduling, data recording and my H&S and training compliance. I've always found the software to be, adaptable, user friendly and very dependable
Cons:
If I'm pushed to find a negative I would say that the Mobile Pro module could be a bit more user friendly by adopting an easier step by step approach.

Scheduler
Comments:
It is great for the day to day helpdesk we use the funcition for
The Scheduler is hard to use and set up as required
Pros:
The Work Order function is great to allow requests be self generated. The screen filtering for this is handy. allowing users to be able to further filter and create appropriate heading would be easier
Cons:
The scheduler has very limited changes or Filtering is difficult in the scheduler Changes are not easily made Filtering is difficult in the scheduler to be able to assign costs to jobs without rates would be great for repairs the help function doesn't follow a process to link steps.

Pirana - Why use anything else?
Comments:
Overall, my experience with Pirana has been excellent. As mentioned before a lot of it is intuitive and you can use many of it's functions in a way that suits you.
My main gripe with Shire Systems, rather than the actual software, is that they won't rectify the sort of problems as mentioned earlier, that must affect all users. This is a shame as it detracts from what is one of the best pieces of maintenance software that I have used.
Pros:
Pirana is inexpensive, is easy to set up and can be expanded with extra modules. Most of it's functions are intuitive and you can use it easily even if you have no previous experience of using this type of software. It also has a detailed help file if you get stuck or are unsure about something. The reports pretty much cover anything that you might need. Being able to download nearly everything to Excel is extremely useful as you can then edit and format the data to suit what you want. Shire Systems will produce tailor-made reports if you require them, but they do seem a bit reluctant to do this when you ask them.
Cons:
There are some features that don't allow you to rectify a mistake if you make one. For instance, if you receive some goods to the wrong work order, even if you then change the work order number on the purchase order, those goods are still on the costs tab of the work order and have to be removed manually and then added manually to the correct work order. If you want to delete something and the message pops up that tells you the item may be in use somewhere else in the system, it doesn't tell you where, and you can't delete the item.

Pirana CMMS
Comments: We are an SME and the use of Pirana has allowed us to integrate maintenancea across all of our facilities and bring the standardisation of our maintenance to a new level. The ability to interrogate costs of maintenance is giving us further insight into our operational expeniture. Of equal value are Shire's support team, they have proven their value time and again in assisting us with improving our system and the use of the CMMS.
Pros:
Our company opted for a hosted system and the accesibility and availability is perfect, the also software integrates well with mobile device use for field users. The software is easy to configure and there are many layers of user control that can be set to give the end users the right amount of interaction with the system.
Cons:
The one thing that is lacking that I would find useful is an audit trail on changes in the system as this would help interrogate where user or data errors have occured in the system.

Comments: During Covid our interrogation of the system for compliance needs were invaluable if course the performance of the system is only as good as the information input
Pros:
The features of this product are fantastic, we can interrogate the system for information and lodge important documentation, we also like the ability to add many users with various permissions, The asset register and locations are easy to set up
Cons:
We would like to see a single sign on for our staff to improve the security, if we had this then more work requests can be made through the system by our 4k employees, this would enable better record keeping for work requests from all areas
Pirana development and in use last 10 years
Comments: A basic system and very competent with increasing functionality
Pros:
The straight forward functionality and the UK support that understands the requirements - not just developer lead
Cons:
There is not the functionality of that of high end IWMS, CAFM & CMMS - but having said that and experience over 30 years of systems it is extremely difficult to maintain a sophisticated deployment

Comments: I have been a user for many many years we had licence number [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] and overall very happy with the product
Pros:
Easy to use and navigate the system for non experienced users
Cons:
1. Bugs in the system can be quite frustrating when they appear, as an example were we need to send the SQL to you for something that has all traces of its history being deleted but you still cant delete. On the positive side of that you always do this quickly when needed. 2. Not being able to clone assets on mobile pro. 3. Not being able to fit some parts of the software to the screen extents.
Alternatives Considered:
Great system
Comments: I have used Shire systems for many years and as each year goes by the software gets better
Pros:
Easy to use and functions available for all to see
Cons:
The mobile Pro system could be improved to make data entry easier ie reporting of reactive breakdowns. Would be great to see a simple tab for breakdown work
All Round Brilliant System
Comments:
Shire on the whole has been very supportive through the entire process of training, implementation, and contiued support.
Several members of the team using the system have commented that it is much better than any other maintanence system they have used before.
Pros:
The flexibility of the system and the way the respective modules link into one another is fantastic.
Cons:
Its not a Con as such as it is undestandable why, but the system is out of the box and is what it is, you can not tailor it specifically for your application, however, Shire are open to customer input and any updates can implement customer requests if there are enough to warrant the improvement.
Engineering Manager
Comments: The system itself has been fairly reliable when called upon tech support have resolved issues in a quick duration.
Pros:
The software is user friendly, ease of use and navigating between functions or screens. Fairly easy to pick up and use.
Cons:
The ability to have a bar code scanner that could be used to sign on and sign off work order would be beneficial as well as having the bar code on all work orders.
User Freindly Software
Comments: We are able to manage the assetts and work flow for 70 sites.
Pros:
I like the fact that with quite limited training, the software is very intuititve to use. It has great functionality which is easy to exploit, and when you need some help, both the online and help desk are easily accesible.
Cons:
We have yet to find any negatives, but we will find areas specific to our industry that may warrant feedback as we continue development our use of the system.
Good software but still in its infancy feature wise.
Comments: Overall good although nothing to compare against.
Pros:
Web based so easy to access from any pc in the company that is on the network. The software is easy to use and requires little training from a users point of view.
Cons:
The pages could do with loading up faster. Still some features missing compared to Frontline. Still no customisable reports. Not keen on the newest icons, time could have been better spent on functionality.
Fine
Comments: It does some things well and other things not so well but it gets the job the done and has helped my role.
Pros:
The report features are good and the breadth of the software is good.
Cons:
There is no description within that tells you how the data is recorded or applied for reports, making it difficult to put a best practice document together, the signing off, description and instruction writing is not the best as the home page only gives you the briefest description and the "Task Instructions" doesn't give much scope. I know the names can be changed internally but having them on a different tab isn't the best design either.

ShireSystem was our first choice for computerised maintenance management system
Comments: Ensuring that work that cannot be completed, deferred, is not safety or business critical.
Pros:
Dead easy to use, for someone like myself who doesn't use it every day. It's screens are clear and easy to navigate
Cons:
The colour coding is not so great if you are colour blind!
