About QGIS
QGIS is free, open source GIS software that enables users to create, edit, visualize, analyze and publish geospatial data on desktop an
Budget friendly option for Geospatial professionals plus easy to use tools for other professionals in the field of Environment or planning for their mapping work.
Something I don't like is that sometimes the application closes and does not have recovered files, so you have to start again.

QGIS - The Best GIS Platform
Comments: After starting with QGIS, my design flow in QGIS involves over 80% of the total work. Before QGIS, creation of pipe lines, adding lengths manually, introducing elevations to thousands of notes along with demands usually consumed over a month for each scheme. But with QGIS, the time requirement changed to a matter of hours, which is unbelievable. Pipelines are automatically generated with exported shape files, demands are exported with demand buffers, which are created and managed in QGIS and all elevation data sets are all there in the same project.
Pros:
QGIS is a free software, with exceptional customization as well as some amazing built-in features. Compared to most other GIS platforms including paid ones, QGIS offers a hassle free user experience since we can handle/ manage all our files within a single interface such as creating-converting-managing all data layers very easily. The other major upside is the availability of a ton of third party plug ins, which will help you do almost everything you need. As a daily user of the software, QGIS has become an integral part of my design workflow in modelling and managing water supply pipe networks. With the latest QGIS 3, we received many new features to further enhance the level of presentation compared to what it offered before. This was a very nice surprise and a much welcomed bonus to all users.
Cons:
Unlike many free apps, there are literally no downsides to using QGIS compared to the alternatives.
Alternatives Considered:
QGIS - get your work done fast.
Comments: As a GIS Analyst, QGIS has changed my professional life and I am now in the Open Source GeoSpatial community. I love the efficiency of it and that you can download it anywhere in the world via the QGIS Project page. The QGIS Community are kind and ethical and are ready to help users.
Pros:
I moved over to QGIS from ESRI as I was working in consulting and QGIS performed quickly (very powerful and lots of tools available from GDAL, GRASS and SAGA) and was more stable. The default styles were beautiful as well and the ease of working with Open Data such as ArcGIS REST Servers made my workflows efficient. The Plugins, such as SLYR, lets me work with ESRI products with ease and QGIS is the main software to run your Tuflow in. With a long term release each year and quarterly updates, it is always evolving with technology. Using Geopackages when working with the Cloud environments also make my workflows efficient. I love that I can share my work easily as well with fellow workers and clients. Lots of support in its Documentation as well in the community via socials or email lists or Stackoverflow.
Cons:
Labelling needs to be developed a bit more but in saying that, I can get a complex fauna study map out. As it is free, corporations can use it but they need to also contribute to it as well so we can keep the development up.
QGIS review
Comments: Till now, my QGIS use is restricted to creating map products, which is great but alittle bit more time-consuming.
Pros:
It is built extremely user friendly, with similar UI to other softwares provided by vendors at great cost. It works for GIS users, providing an open source powerfull tool, triggering the user to expand their skills to coding.
Cons:
There should be more built-in options regarding the data visualization, specially when creating map products (greater farmating libraries). I would like to see less versions of the software, but more stable.

Best open-source software for geospatial mapping!!
Comments: QGIS is open-source software that can easily download and deploy. It consists of a variety of plugins and tools to work with geospatial data.
Pros:
QGIS is totally free software that helps us to perform spatial analysis, data management, geospatial data preparation, satellite data interpretation, etc. This software is updating day by day and adding very important plugins and features to it. QGIS has plugins to connect with other platforms too. For example, Send2GoogleEarth plugin can join with Google Earth Pro, Google Earth Engine Plugin can work with GEE platform. This software provides plugins and tools for quick land use classifications compared to other GIS platforms. Digitization of spatial elements like buildings, roads, streams, and land cover is very comfortable with QGIS. QGIS has the facility to load base maps such as OpenStreetMap, Google Hybrid, Google Satellite, Google Road, and Bing Arial by adding the URL. This service is very valuable for those who are working with base data preparation and interpretation.
Cons:
QGIS doesn’t support adding data from file geodatabases. Sometimes QGIS is unexpectedly ended due to crash reporting. Especially at the time, we are doing digitization activities using google satellite images.
Review of QGIS
Comments: QGIS is very useful software in the Geoinformatics field.
Pros:
QGIS is free and open-source software. QGIS supports all possible formats such as raster, vector, point clouds of GIS, and Remote Sensing. QGIS is highly customizable and the Developer can develop various plugins as per requirements.
Cons:
QGIS sometimes encounters a bug and immediate Support is not available. QGIS needs more tools for raster data processing.
Very complete GIS software
Pros:
This is a great open-source GIS software and is equipped with plenty of features and customization options for projecting and analyzing spatial data. Its interface with online maps from services like Google and Bing, which makes it easy to work with different basemaps. It's also a great alternative to ArcGIS, particularly for those who are looking for a free and open-source solution.
Cons:
The software can be a bit tricky to navigate for those who are new to GIS or have limited experience with similar tools.
Free and trusted Geolocalization tool

The most loved things, QGIS is a free Software which can be used with a less performante computer or laptop
Cons:
At least QGis can be accessible to students and useful to training company
Easy to Use Powerful Mapping Program
Comments: Overall I am very satisfied with what I am able to produce using QGIS. With this program I can assemble great visuals for inclusion in my reports in a short amount of time.
Pros:
This program offers an easy to use and effective mapping software. The capabilities of this software are above and beyond what I would have expected from a free program. I use QGIS at least once a day for various mapping projects whether it be preparing a site map, a tax map, or topographic maps. It makes mapping sample points, or integrating various graphical project data simple. I had no previous formal GIS training and I found this program easy to understand a pick up quickly.
Cons:
Some file formats are not accepted as imports into QGIS so they may require a conversion before uploading. Additionally, the buffer function was removed from newer versions of the program.
Why give your money to ESRI
Pros:
QGIS is the leader in open-source desktop GIS applications. If you need work done in a GIS ecosystem, this is the choice to make. I cannot stress this enough; due to the fact that QGIS is open source, you have the full support of anybody within GIS capabilities on your side. The barrier of entry is nil, therefore anybody can contribute and learn.
Cons:
Opening QGIS for the first time may be intimidating for users. However, as you learn, the software becomes more intuitive and you can customize how your QGIS is laid out for maximum efficiency.

QGIS is a must have
Comments: I use QGIS to create and display mainly shapefiles and line work on maps for our design company. Working near the sea, its a great way to visualize shoreline changes over time and to plan for future changes.
Pros:
QGIS is a must have for anyone doing spatial analysis or GIS related work. Its free and comes with a lot of capabilities similar to other products like ARC-GIS. Adding various types of layers to your map and changing the display properties are all helpful in getting you the right output. Having the ability to integrate many different file types is a great feature that makes this software awesome. The support community is also great making it easy to get solutions to any issues you may have.
Cons:
There aren't any notable drawbacks to using this software. As a beginner it will take a couple days to remember everything however after that its just a breeze.
QGIS is great!
Comments: It's not that welcoming to new users, but once you get into it, it's really good. QGIS should enable you to get most of your GIS-related work done - and all of that for the price you can't beat.
Pros:
Great GIS software. It is evolving constantly, it's free and it does the job well no matter if you just want to take a look at a shapefile or you want to deliver more complex projects - it's there and it works. On top of that you've got access to a number of plugins which should bring all the functionality you need.
Cons:
There are a lot of software/libraries dependencies and backward compatibility is not always a guarantee for your projects. Even if it's not ideal it causes the extended use of older version of QGIS when working on a specific project for longer.
Alternatives Considered:
QGIS is my swiss army knife
Comments: I needed a program that could quickly extract topographic contours from a DSM tiff file, and do it at different resolutions. I've been using QGIS for this purpose for 2 years now.
