About Nextech EHR & PM
Nextech Med Spa is designed to transform med spa operations and empower owners and staff through a single, comprehensive platform.
They love being able to access their medical records and see results. We also use our portal for patient to login and fill out paperwork as well as make and cancel appointments.
You're basically trapped when you buy in...if you don't pay, which we haven't for almost a year, then decide to break down and do it, it only back pays.

Why I use Nextech
Comments: I can see how the business if performing using all the features.
Pros:
How easy it is to get quality timely help.
Cons:
Learning curve but the features are valuable.
9 years and running
Comments: They're aware of their impact and honestly try to make a user friendly product that delivers, on time.
Pros:
I've used Nextech MDI since I entered the Retina field in 2014. In 9 years, at two different practices, there's a consistency that has been built that once you know the system you're able to use it at any employer. Image integration is fairly simple, and the compass on the side lets you jump ahead to where you're looking to navigate to more quickly than scrolling.
Cons:
The cloud. The concept of the cloud is great, but a little Hurricane, or other disruptions and suddenly the cloud is down. I'd love a local server to download the current day charts the night before, any charts that weren't pre-downloaded could be downloaded as needed, then after all the charts are updated, push the updates back to the cloud for long-term. This way as long as there's intRAnet working you still have full access to a patients charts, whereas if intERnet has any issues you're out of luck and scrambling to find a paper chart.
Experienced User's Perspective - Over 9 years of use
Pros:
NexTech select is relatively easy to use and set up, I was able to set up our system on my own after 2 years of experience with the system. Finding the first available appointment is a quick way to navigate appointments, the forward button on the schedule is a nice addition (allows you to jump forward by days/weeks/months/years).
Cons:
The reporting system needs an over haul. It is very basic and requires you to run multiple reports to achieve the analysis you're looking for. We tried the Enterprise reporting and it too did not allow the level of free customization we were hoping for.
Great EHR system
Comments: Really enjoy working with customer service, and being able to onboard staff quickly to use the systems.
Pros:
We don’t currently use the PM function but are looking to switch. The EHR is so easy to use and train on.
Cons:
We can’t load our own forms into the EHR for patients to fill out or to fill out in clinic. The WHR needs better reporting options and capabilities.
HD retina review
Comments: Good but need more training in customizing
Pros:
Developed by an ophthalmologist who understands retina
Cons:
Difficulty in customizing - hopefully with thrive program can do so
Nextech ICP for EMR
Comments: Excellent, including the customer support team
Pros:
The EMR system is so user friendly for our staff
Cons:
Implementation can be a bit tedious, but it’s worth it in the end
Stephenson Eye Associates Loves Nextech
Comments: Overall Experience has been Fantastic!
Pros:
We love the User Friendliness of this platform and the easy access help from the service technicians if they cant fix your issue they will find someone who can in a timely manner. Nextech is always up to date on the latest and greatest technologies and make sure that its clients have the access to that information as well.
Cons:
Templating for EMNS is not as user friendly to some people who arent tech savy and with every office being so different in their specific needs its sometimes hard to get a template for the office needs that fits perfectly.
Billing Clerk
Pros:
Very informative, educational and the slideshow was very helpful
Cons:
The walking I would prefer if the session on 1 floor
Great product support and innovation
Pros:
Ease of support and timely of new updates
Cons:
The reporting is not that great. There arent enough fields to report from.
Nextech ehr
Comments: Edge conference helped me understand the system better
Pros:
Everything is simple and easy to navigate
Cons:
Not understanding the financial close and how to correct after the close
Alternatives Considered:
Best choice we made when switching from paper charts to electronic health record
Comments: Our overall experience with Nextech Intellechart Pro and Nextech Cloud PM has been very positive. Having seen the competitors in our field, we have not regretted our choice one day.
Pros:
The software is always evolving and improving to lessen the burden on the doctors and staff.
Cons:
When updates are made sometimes it causes other issues in the software that weren't there before the update. That being said they do try and address those issues promptly.
Implementation continues to disappoint and cause major problems
Comments: I have hopes for the system once we get through all of our migration problems. Though we are almost two months post-go live and should not be dealing with these problems any more.
Pros:
Reporting options give us what we need to make administrative decisions. AdvancedMD had very poor reporting features.
Cons:
The implementation process has been disappointing. We STILL have not had a complete migration of data from our old EHR since we took Nextech's recommendation to use their migration service instead of going through the legacy EHR.
Nextech Systems Response
last year
Cari, we're glad you're finding value in Nextech's reporting options. However, it is unfortunate that the implementation hasn't met your expectations. We've had tremendous success in the past with the speed and ease of our implementation process, but every practice has its own unique circumstances. Please reach out to your Nextech representative, access the Community Portal, or contact Client Support at 866-654-4396 so that we can address your concerns further.
Debra review
Pros:
Product is easy to use to put in charges and bill to clearinghouse. Lets me know if I am in global period for billing. Easy to transmit charges and payments.
Cons:
I am unable to bill secondary claims. Also, it would be nice when a claim is rejected that the HCFA would come up so I can correct whats on the HCFA and not look for where to find the mistake.
Review from the Front Desk
Pros:
The system was easy to learn as someone who's never used an EHR/PM system before. A lot of the features are self-explanatory and easy to understand.
Cons:
Integration with other Nextech software should be included during launch instead of a later-planned feature. The reminder feature in Practice+ also doesn't work completely accurately, especially in regard to sending reminders for multiple appointments that are scheduled on the same day.
Nextech Review
Comments: Overall, I am happy with my Nextech experience.
Pros:
I think the layout of Nextech is very easy to use. The program is straight forward!
Cons:
Nextech often glitches and we lose our notes. You can't have more than one person in a chart at a time or everything deletes.
7 years of Nextech use
Comments: See above. I tell ya, I love Nextech .... when it's set up correctly and it does the work for you... when it's not being utilized correctly and you have a group of non-techy people using it... it's a web of rabbit holes and it's so easy to screw things up in billing.
Pros:
It covers all the bases. If there's something we need - Nextech usually can make it happen.
Cons:
I used to work for a practice who invested in bringing out Nextech experts on site and trained us all on best practice and cleaned up our system on an annual basis. When I worked there - Nextech ran like a well-oiled machine. It was built out and was SO efficient. Everything was simple and a click. I now work for a smaller practice and we don't even use EMNs to be billed... it's a mess. I'm not tech savvy - I just knew how to USE it efficiently. This new job has been SUCH a major challenge because Nextech is a swamp. I'm frustrated that it takes a lot of time and money to get it "best practice" - when I called about building out billing in EMNS - I was emailed a manual and told that it was more something a consultant would need to help us set up. Ugh. I love Nextech - but unless you have someone on board that knows it/knows the software/understands tech/it ..... what use is it when we barely skim the best features?
Review
Pros:
I like the functions it offers but learning how to use them has been a struggle.
Cons:
Wish it was more user friendly. So things are hard to use and when we call customer service most of the time (depending who you get) they are not much help.
Best Medical Software araound
Pros:
Billing is a breeze for us , we enjoy the templates as well. Love the new credit card system through nextech
Cons:
having choice besides trizetto, the e eligibilty is not that accurate
Expensive fees to keep software service and updates yearly.
Comments: Basic scheduling needs and some reporting.
Pros:
Scheduling is easy, drop down menus can be personalized. Maintaining providers schedules is simple.
Cons:
One glitch that is frustrating is name changes. Once a patient is in the system, you can't change their name or the system deletes their file data. Photos, op reports, everything. It's a frustrating process b/c to make any new documentation legally correct, you have to go in by hand an change every where it's written, which on surgical consents can be almost 20 times. Then anything automated that goes out still has their wrong name. For divorced patients this is a frustrating reminder. Most importantly though is the yearly fee. Once you purchase this software, you then have to continue purchasing it every year or it doesn't work properly (no updates) and you have no support from Nextech if something goes wrong. I wasn't here when it was purchased, but our physician emphatically denies every knowing this was going to be the case when he made the initial buy in. We pay thousands a year for this system, but switching seems very daunting and they know that. You're basically trapped when you buy in...if you don't pay, which we haven't for almost a year, then decide to break down and do it, it only back pays. Say you miss a year, you will have to pay for the year of service you DIDN'T get and then another year to get up to date. It's a huge rip off.
Our office has been using Nextech Practice Management for 7 years. Customer service is excellent.
Comments: The benefit is the practice management. It is very user friendly. It offers most any kind of financial report you may be looking for
Pros:
Very user friendly. The customer service is excellent. They offer a number of financial reports. The inventory and commission based module is very easy to use for our estheticians. You can track everything. We have four locations, the messaging between users is very convenient and we use it every day between offices. Sending claims out to clearing house is fast and efficient. The system will flag a claim that has something incorrect on it. You can fix it immediately and send out. Totally love the PM part of Nextech
Cons:
I do not like the EMR. Very overwhelming. Needs to be more user friendly. The doctors complain they have to go through to many steps and it takes to long.

Regarding the EMR, we encourage you to contact your Account Manager about how Nextech can assist your practice with streamlining its medical notes. With thousands of providers using our system and a fully customizable EMR, we¿re certain we can reduce that frustration once we better understand your unique needs.
Nextech Evaluation
Comments: My experience has been great with Nextech. I like how customizable it is and how helpful the Support Staff are when help is needed.
Pros:
Customizable, East of Charting, Ease of Room Manager
Cons:
Integration was in 2011 and it has evolved since then.
Nextech client for 15 years!
Pros:
Ease of implementation, user friendly, great tech support, and easy to add on modules. We have a busy plastic surgery practice and are very pleased with practice management features. The product support is excellent.
Cons:
Would like to be able to customize the surgical quote system more
Nextech
Comments: Initial costs were managed with a no interest loan for three years and reduction in introductory costs. However, the details were so complicated and confusing for first time users of EHS that the unreasonable annual maintenance fees were obscured as we made our decision between Nextech and other systems. The sales person also did not emphasize these annual fees - he only emphasized the 3 years without interest and the lower introductory cost. We have 22 stations and had to pay licensing fees of $1200 for each station. We are being charged $15,000 annually for maintenance and upgrades whether we need them or not. In addition, should we not pay the annual $15,000 fee and need tech support or maintenance the next year, we are obligated to pay the $15,000 from the previous year in addition to the $15,000 for the current year. Last year, we needed no support and the upgrades did not affect us. Thus far this year, we have not needed maintenance or upgrades and so we are researching other EHS systems that have fees for support, upgrades and maintenance on an a la cart basis as needed. If we are not able to negotiate a reasonable relationship with NEXTECH regarding these fees, we will either convert to a new system and effectively lose more than $65,000 in software expenses or convert back to paper and take the penalty cuts until we retire. Fees for services are being constantly reduced and expenses are constantly rising, therefore, as a solo independent practice, we simply cannot afford to budget $15,000 for something we may not or do not need.
Pros:
As any other EHS product, it eliminates the paper requirements and increases the legibility and service details documentation.
Cons:
Entirely too expensive in ALL regards - $1200 licensing fees to even use the product on equipment we also had to purchase to run the software in addition to #15,000 annual maintenance fee and fees per doctor, etc.
Nextech Scheduling System
Comments: I find this system a little more cumbersome to navigate than some and a little easier than others. On the fence with this one. The separation of the different modules by function make this an expensive system. The watered down version is too expensive for the parts that you do get and to me don't make it worth the investment.
Pros:
The scheduling system is fairly easy to use and navigate. Entering patient information in to the scheduler is fairly easy.
Cons:
I would like more customization with the information fields that suit our practice and needs. The flow of the information on the screen isn't as fluid as it should be in order to have speed with entering data.
Amazing technology support staff!!
Comments: Each and every staff member is both knowledgeable AND helpful. It would be great to be part of a monthly interactive advisory group (other than the community portal). Would be nice to have a direct link to the portal after logging in to MDI. Thanks!
Pros:
Support team! Short wait times. Complete answers when you get a person on the phone. Frequently they think ahead and anticipate your next question.
Cons:
So many variables. Lots of decisions to make and options to set up. Difficult to make the "right" decisions at the beginning. Sometimes the changes seem too fast - and too much to keep up with just to stay current. Although the flexibility is a double edged sword (your flexibility is also a benefit!)
