Expert statistical software for designing and analyzing of experiments

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: I have used this software for designing several optimal experiment and analyzing them. It is the suitable software for this purpose.

Pros:

Easy to use for researcher in laboratories that need screening and optimal designs. It has a very good accompanying documents that tech all aspects of software and tech the purpose of each procedure and interpretation of results. Furthermore, this software is a very good choice for statistician that invoked in this type of works.

Cons:

This software actually is very expensive for ordinary users. Maybe providing an option for project based subscription or subscription per days would be better.

Design Expert--very logical to use

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: Design Expert is my everyday go-to program for designing experiments. Whether it's a screening experiment, factorial, response surface or mixture experiment, I use this software for the design and then the subsequent analysis. In that past 11+ years, I don't recall encountering any design need that Design Expert could not handle.

Pros:

Design Expert offers the user a lot of help for designing and experiment and for analyzing the results. To set up a design, you can use their wizard, which uses a question and answer approach. If you are more of a do-it-yourself type, they still offer guided screens for whatever type of design you think you want to use. For analysis, Design Expert also has a guided approach. The left side of the screen has a vertical arrangement to allow you to progress from simply plotting, to analysis, to optimization. In the analysis section, you have a series of tab across the top of the screen to guide you through selecting the model, analyzing the model, diagnosing the analysis and finally creating summary plots. I can only describe the approach that Design Expert uses as very "linear". Some people can feel overwhelmed by packages that have a lot of option buttons. Design Expert has plenty of options, but they are not intimidating or intrusive.

Cons:

The graphics could be better. While it's easy to export the graphs to Word or PowerPoint, the graphs themselves look a bit old-school and the ability to edit them is rather limited.

Great functionalities for Design of Experiments

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Great software that will help all PhDs and engineers in their design of experiments

Pros:

Great software that helped run a design of experiments for my PhD students. Easy importation of data from excel and We can easily interpret the results

Cons:

Some examples for experimental design are missing. For example, It will be good to include definitions and why should we use quadratic versus linear statistical approaches

Design Expert, a great product backed by a great team!

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: I have used Design Expert since 1989 (version 1.1) so I have 30 years of working with Stat Ease on the development of the software. I have found the people a Stat Ease to be easy to work with and they are very receptive to suggestions and comments. I personally know several people who work there and have visited them a few times. I highly recommend this software for anyone interested in designing and analyzing their own DOEs or supporting others.

Pros:

Design Expert can handle virtually any type of experimental design that you may need in a wide variety of situations. Certainly, the broad array of factorial, response surface and Taguchi designs can help anyone interested in applying DOE to a process. For those interested in formulation development, there is a nice selection of mixture and mixture/process designs to choose from. Design Expert is particularly help in its easy to navigate menus, great graphics, and their tutorials are very well-done and are highly recommended!

Cons:

There are a few designs which Design Expert doesn't have, such as space-filling designs for computer experiments. I rarely have the need for such designs so this is not a serious limitation of Design Expert.

Review of Design-Expert

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: I have used this software for two years and It has helped me a lot through designing experiments and also in creating models.

Pros:

The features are user-friendly. You can easily prepare the spreadsheet for your experiments. The first month is free so you can get an experience of how it works before purchasing. I think the student license version is reasonably priced.

Cons:

The statistical analysis section is a little complex especially for those who are not expert in statistics.
