Reviews of Eclipse Web Tools Platform
Best Web Tool For JAVA!
Pros:
The web application we use to assign and monitor the work of technical and maintenance personnel in the field is java based. We use Eclipse Web Tools Platform to develop and update this application. My favorite features are; for example, it contains many plug-ins; junit, cactus, ant, maven and cruisecontrol. It saves me a lot of effort by easily showing how to configure application servers for use with WTP and finally being able to deploy directly to servers.
Cons:
Frankly, eclipse web tools has never disappointed me so far. I even feel like I've improved a lot. It doesn't have a feature that I don't like. It's already developer friendly. I am satisfied.
Ecilpse - The Coder's Platform
Comments:
Eclipse is the best IDE for Educational Institutions for Teaching Perspective.
I was able to learn the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) with Eclipse IDE.
You don't need to worry about the GIT integration for version control.
The startup time for Eclipse is very less, so you wont need to wait for a long time.
With eclipse. you can earn OCJP and advance Java certifications easily since it lays focus on programming and business logic layer better than other IDEs.
Pros:
The most important Pros are : 1. You need not learn all the Subclasses and Functions since Eclipse IDE will provide it for you. This let me focus on core Functional Part of code rather than remembering the Servlet Classes and JSP tags. 2. The Java Beans along with Spring Framework is best suited to run on the localhost server as Tomcat, Weblogic, and Maven are easy to configure in Eclipse. So We need not worry about the classpath or running from command line. 3. Eclipse provide all the 3 window pane(Model, view and Controller) in single desktop view making 3 tier web architecture very easy to develop. 4. GIT Version Control is really a good feature in Eclipse.
Cons:
1. When you are beginning to learn the concept of Web Programming for any Language be it Java, Python or Haskell.. I advise not to use any IDE (pycharm, eclipse or Intellij. ) . This is because many compile time errors are removed by default by Eclipse so we don't develop the error debugging skills which is important for Code Reviews in future works. 2. Eclipse is mostly equipped with libraries and modules , Before importing a particular module especially in case of Web-Sockets, Blockchain Contracts, you should go i detail of that module to reduce the chances of errors. 3. The Plugins for Eclipse are not being updated timely which is very difficulty to communicate with Third Party Vendors for API Calls. Also Restart of Eclipse is required when you install a particular plugin. 4. The IDE is not suitable for Functional Programming Languages like Haskell, Clojure and CLisp.
Eclipse Web Tools Platform really helps you
Comments: In an enterprise environment, Eclipse Web Tools Platform is a good solution to find what you are searching for: JSF, Service tools, EJB tools and so on and on.
Pros:
A lot of tools and platform extensions for Eclipse. I really find anything there. I like it!
Cons:
Sometimes it is difficult to find what you are searching for. Integration with Target Platform can be difficultus
Eclipse+ WSO2 Integration Studio, an IDE that takes a while to get used too
Comments: Overall, Eclipse / Integration Studio is a handy tool for (WSO2) Developers because of the versatility and the possibilty for new users to set up a graphical overview and look in the source to see what is done 'under water'. That is the reason why we use it in training (and personally also for regular development). It is a product some people love to hate, but i tend more to the love side.
Pros:
Elipse with the add on of Integration Studio from WSO2 is the tool to create Mediation and Transformation artifacts for the WSO2 Enterprise Integrator. It is a full blown IDE that allows to develop Java programs but also works in conjunction with WSO2. The great benefit is that it allows to set up a graphical high level overview and fill in the configuration details either via properties or in the source view. It also allows to create extensions to WSO2 in Java so it is a multi purpose environment that really has a lot of options. The use that we have is limited to this combination of XML / Java based development, even with newbies in training.
Cons:
Getting used to Elipse takes some time. There is a number of do's and don'ts that you need to keep in mind in order to keep the product stable. Sometimes, switching between modes (graphical and source) can corrupt the configuration that you are developing. The number of option and views is also quite large and sometimes get people lost when they first work with it. In general, when you work with it for some time it gets better and you can really and quickly design configuration.
Okay IDE but better alternatives
Comments: I think better alternatives exist so I wouldn't recommend it personally. I prefer using Intellij IDEA ultimate edition.
Pros:
It's a free IDE for interacting with Java EE applications. There are not a lot of options out there, so out of the free tools it's pretty good. It has code completion, deploy support, etc.
Cons:
It's very clunky and doesn't have great code completion. The hot deployment is a bit buggy and doesn't always work properly.
Good for beginners and doing Java Web work
Comments: Decent for Java and web web based programming
Pros:
It can be very complicated to setup and customize and get how you want it, but its nice for beginners for a full featured IDE, especially if they are working on Java and web applications
Cons:
Outside of Java AND specifically web based programming this isn't that great. It has plugins for other things but its super slow with those and can be very buggy.
Alternatives Considered:
Eclipse Useability
Comments: By the way overall good product by Eclipse Foundation.
Pros:
All the things work together is the best use of this IDE... Like Git and Tomcat Server we are using in it they are providing best.
Cons:
The design of this IDE because all other IDEs are updating their UI/UX day by day but the eclipse is still need improvements then it will be the preference for everyone.
The best IDE that i have used so far of my career
Comments: I have used Eclipse for writing basic java programs, java web dynamic projects, maven projects and also jasper report generations. So far this is the best IDE i have ever used
Pros:
1. Eclipse has a simple interface, which makes the programmer or any person who likes for coding interesting and motivating. 2. External plugin installation is much easier, which makes the user to use other services much better. 3. Availability of customer support. 4. Provide customization of the interface.

Comments: It is a very useful tool for the development of applications
Pros:
It is a very complete tool for the development of applications, it has several plugins that facilitate many predetermined options

The new versions demand to have a computer equipped with a greater capacity of ram memory, to run the app without problems

One can find difficulty using the web tool for the first time due to lack of documentation
Eclipse Web Tools Platform - The best and simplest development software
Comments: I work every day with Eclipse, my coworkers use it too, and I had no problems, Eclipse offers me everything I need for good development.
Pros:
Software manages to be simple and complete at the same time, it allows me everything I need for agile development, it even allows the installation of plugins to improve development, I use it every day and I hardly have problems.
Cons:
As it is software for development, sometimes it takes time to open a class, entities ... another against, is that I know that Eclipse has many shortcuts, but I don't know how to discover more new shortcuts, one way to find new shortcuts is by searching the Internet.

Eclipse is good for writing code
Pros:
Eclipse is very good for doing the development as it's having so many features like we it's having the annotations and we can deploy servers as well to work with the code and easily debug the code. With the help of it able to generate the WAR file which is very handy.
Cons:
Sometime i observe that there are some issues when try to download internal software.
A good set of basic tools.
Comments: Once you've figured out the basics (naming conventions and UI locations) these tools really hello you out if you're working on remote servers.
Pros:
These tools get the job done. If you're starting out, this can help you get setup for free and the community help is pretty good.
Cons:
Figuring out how to configure and use the tools can be frustrating.
I use this development environment to create web applications with programming language in php
Comments: IDE practical for developers
Pros:
This tool is very practical to create websites with different technologies besides having the configuration with git repositories
Cons:
Sometimes errors occur when some projects are imported and there is no related documentation to solve the same
Eclipse Web Tools Platform review
Comments: family programming environment (for those who work with eclipse IDE)
Pros:
the perspectives and tools that it offers when developing are friendly and simple, it does not require a wide knowledge to start developments, it has a wide catalog of plugins that facilitate the development according to the type of project
Cons:
I understand that the perspectives have been maintained over time and that gives loyalty to its users but it is time to make improvements in terms of their views and usage settings to minimize the maximum code and make more modular components in the projects, to mention that there is a strong weakness in the preview of the pages these have failed to be developing
Perfect software for coders
Comments: I haven been using this tool for so long and it had been a wonderful experience.
Pros:
Amazing tools and plugins that are involved in this software makes it a great package. JPA, Java SERVER FACE TOOLS, and java ee tools are very useful in this software. Moreover, source editing of different file formats is also quite handy and can be achieved very efficiently.
Cons:
All products of the eclipse are amazing and this software is also without any disadvantages.
High quality web tool platform
Comments: I used this for personal projects and work. It was a great way to test my web apps.
Pros:
Had a decent amount of features and used the same space as regular Eclipse.
Cons:
Configuring servers could be very frustrating as a lot of stuff isn't auto managed.

Great for learning Java, but still not the best in market
Pros:
Eclipse IDE is a great Environment for who wants to learn and evolve in Java ecosystem, it provides intuitive functionalities and a full toolset for that public.
Cons:
For more experienced developers it may not be the best option, considering the overall performance, customization level and other features of its market competitors.
Best Java Toolset available for learning purposes
Pros:
A really complete Java IDE, with a bunch of tools for developing and debugging Java apps.
Cons:
It's a bit hard to understand all the environment and get up to speed on the development, but once you work with it in a daily basis, it becomes netural and intuitive.
